About Project / Consultancy To better understand the imperatives of empowering grassroots which is at the heart of DMI’s mission, the Amarakh and the Rukhae Gram Panchayats in Bihar are being supported. The objective is to handhold the GP and strengthens the ward sabhas and gram sabha through participatory processes to make way for an effective system of local self-governance. An integrated approach to the rounded development of the gram panchayat is envisaged through facilitation and capacitating the local leadership to effectively implement various government schemes and programmes. DMI proposes to forge partnerships with diverse Non-Government Organisations and the Government of Bihar in developing these two GPs into model panchayats, with accompanying action research to develop an academic framework of managing grassroots level change in Panchayati Raj.
