Director's Profile

Prof. Raju is an alumnus (second batch: 1981-83) of Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA). Prior to joining IRMA as faculty in the general management area in 1994, he worked with various organizations including National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Samakhya and Multi Co-ops' Association. He worked closely with farmers to organize co-operative structures to collectively pool, process and market their produce. He assisted enterprises by offering comprehensive business counselling, management training, member education and field-based action research activities. His current interests include governance and management of collective enterprises, sustainable livelihoods, social entrepreneurship, value and ethics in management and development cooperation.
He has 10 years of field experience and 20 years of academic engagement.

Aspiring development management professionals,

DMI invites you to join the two-year post graduate programme in Development Management designed to empower you to empower grassroots in participatory governance and management of resources, institutions and enterprises for enhancing livelihoods and usher in sustainable development.

PDM consists of interactive classroom learning and experiential learning. Perspective building, Foundational, Functional Management and Integrative courses covering management, decision and social sciences are sequenced across five classroom terms. Experiential learning components - Development Immersion, Enterprise Learning and Management Internship - provide opportunities for reflection, validation and assimilation of classroom learning by doing. PDM is conducted by a faculty team endowed with domain expertise and experience. Opportunities to interact with eminent development practitioners and distinguished academics help you inculcate values of participation, excellence, integrity, innovation and praxis.

Joining PDM opens you to a host of community, civil society, business and government organisations associated with DMI in a variety of mutually enriching learning opportunities during the programme and later to fulfilling career opportunities as development management professionals contributing to societal transformation.
